he Motekino variety is one of the cherry cluster tomato varieties. Its berry has a modest internal consistency and a reduced amount of juice and seeds, presenting with a regular and meaty flesh.
It has a slightly elongated shape with pointed ends, reminding one of the image of a small heart.
Its suitably sweet taste and very fleshy inner flesh suggest its use for the preparation of sauces and gravies, it is also used in salads and appetisers.

Nutritional characteristics: The nutritional identikit of the tomato perfectly answers the requirements of the modern consumer. The tomato is poor in calories, has a good content of minerals and trace elements and is rich in water. The tomato contains modest quantities of vitamins (carotenes, B, C, D, E) and mineral salts (potassium, phosphorous, calcium). Amongst the trace elements most present are iron, zinc and selenium, which makes the tomato a valid ally in the fight against free radicals. The anti-oxidant powers of the tomato are the already mentioned Vitamin A and vitamin C, the flavonoids and the lycopenes. The balance between the high water content and the sugar levels means that the tomato contributes little energy, but for immediate use.
Territory of provenance: Cultivated in the extreme South-East of Sicily, in the territories of the communes of Vittoria, Ispica and Pachino, backing onto the sea.
